About you

We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Backend to join one of our cross-functional product development teams and contribute the delivery of Fieldscale’s software. If you are passionate about software engineering and love building services and APIs, then we will love to talk with you!

This is an exciting role where you will have the opportunity to collaborate with scientists and engineers with a diverse background from around the world. Over 90% of Fieldscale’s team consists of Engineers with an MSc or a Ph.D. in electrical, mechanical, software and computer engineering.

As an Infrastructure Software Engineer at Fieldscale, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Maintain an extensive infrastructure of Amazon Wes Services.
  • Support existing and implement new DevOps automations.
  • Provide IT support.
  • Be involved in the design and implementation of robust and scalable SaaS applications.
  • Contribute to the product quality by designing and implementing testing automations.
  • Develop workflows and functionality for Fieldscale's products.
  • Advocate best practices for software architecture.
  • Participate in architecture design and code reviews.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies for building scalable applications.

You must have the following:

  • 2+ years experience in a relevant software engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience in Python using Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience in DevOps automations:
    - Infrastructure as a code (Terraform).
    - Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration (CI/CD)
    - Software testing automations.
    - OS-level virtualization (docker).
  • Good understanding of modern software architecture styles.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, instead of perfection.
  • Self-starter and willing to learn.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

You get a strong plus if you have one or more of the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with developing SaaS applications.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with System engineering.
  • Familiar with Amazon Web Services.
  • Understanding of agile development methods (Scrum or Kanban).
