Fieldscale received a Seal of Excellence by the European Commission for its Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase 2 project proposal.
The project proposal “Next Generation SIMulation APPlicationS for the Automotive Electronics industry” submitted on June 2016, was acknowledged as highly innovative, aiming new market opportunities addressing global challenges. The Seal of Excellence comes as an assurance that the project passes all assessment thresholds for the award criteria required to receive funding from EU budget Horizon 2020 and has the capacity to gather further financing and eventually reach the market.
Nowadays, nearly all innovations taking place in the automotive industry are due to electronics. Electronics enable improved safety features, reduced CO2 emissions, and advanced information systems. The automotive electronics industry is constantly pressing to speed time-to-market and reduce average lead times below the 2-year mark. Towards this direction, engineering simulation reduces the reliance on physical testing and shifts the validation earlier in the design phase.
Industry-specific interfaces known as simulation Apps are an emerging trend in the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) industry. Fieldscale’s approach, “one screen-zero learning curve”, enable every engineer to perform complex simulations that traditionally only experts have been able to complete. During “ESimApps” project, the company will finalize a series of simulation Apps for the automotive electronics industry targeting at automotive PCBs, touchscreen sensors, and electric motors. The automotive electronics industry will enjoy fast and accurate simulations leading to reduced time-to-market and improved innovation capacity, fueling the growth of sophisticated electronics. Thus, the consumers will enjoy a reduction of road accidents and the wide adoption of electric vehicles.
The proposal has been evaluated by an international panel of independent experts based on criteria of impact, quality and efficiency of implementation, and excellence in the technology and innovation. “It’s a first step towards the company’s goal to remove the barriers of simulation in the demanding industry of automotive electronics” stated the COO, Vasso Kalaitzidou.
